Maha Maamoun (EG)Domestic Tourism II (2008) | |
The world-famous, plain pyramids of Giza form the surreal backdrop of the labyrinthine megalopolis Cairo. For years, they have been a popular film location, their iconic power fulfilling nostalgic fantasies of Egypt’s glorious past and of its critical or nationalist handling of the present. Maha Maamoun combines these images with her personal relationship to this geographical and historical setting.
