The integrated world of non-linear sounds of the living and the dead

With Michael Esposito (USA), Heidi Harman (USA) & Carl Michael von Hausswolff (S)

Is it possible to take a complete audioscopic snapshot of those surroundings that we can see and those that we cannot see? That we can hear and that we cannot hear? In their discussion with the medium and sound healer Heidi Harman, artists Michael Esposito and Carl Michael von Hausswolff draw on familiar and lost sciences in order to talk about the acoustic links between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

The Art of the Political Event
Performance in public space

With Oliver Marchart (A), Public Movement (IL), Joanna Warsza (PL) & Artur Żmijewski (PL)

Can artists make real politics? Then the artist becomes a spokesperson, diplomat, travelling agent, political consultant, provocateur, mercenary. Public Movement discusses with the political theorist Oliver Marchart, the curator Joanna Warsza and the artist Artur Żmijewski, the artistic production of political events by artists, especially those made in public space using it both as a studio and stage. When does a demonstration start to be beautiful? What is live sociology? Can political rituals be redesigned?

Wed 12/10, 7.30 pm
Two worlds in our breast
The traumatised collective consciousness of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

With André Yoka Lye (CD)

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is both untypical and exemplary of post-colonial developments in Africa. Military, political and cultural conflicts have traumatised the collective consciousness to such an extent that the search for happiness has taken unexpected turns:among other things the growing influence of religious Pentecostalism is creating a constant confrontation of good and evil, this world and the other world, etc., that does not actually exist in this form. We all carry both in us, this world and the other, the visible and the invisible, good and evil, the rational and the irrational.
